Summertime in the City of Santa Clarita would not be the same without the city’s acclaimed Concerts In the Park series, held Saturdays at 7 p.m. from July 5 through August 23. The free summer concert series is an all-ages event and has something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
This year’s performers include some stellar cover bands as well as eclectic music from all genres –
July 5 - Santa Clarita Symphony -A salute to great American musicals with songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Bernstein and Sondheim as well as Tin Pan Alley composers George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin, plus a patriotic salute to John Philip Sousa.
July 12 - No Duh - No Duh captures the complete essence of a Gwen Stefani and No Doubt concert, mixing their music with nostalgic visuals, stylings and props from their videos, complete with costumes and a rockin' sense of humor.
July 19 - Bonne Musique Zydeco - Infectious dance music, rhythms, and an uninhibited beat is the best way to describe zydeco-music that will keep your feet and body moving, and raise your heart rate,
July 26 - Hollywood U2 - Having toured many countries, Hollywood U2 has the experience and all the elements to emulate one of the greatest rock bands in the world like no other. They deliver the true sentiment and energy of U2's material with extremely accurate interpretations of U2's countless hits.
August 2 - Durell Coleman Soul Review – Former "Star Search" winner Durell Coleman and his band have opened for Earth Wind & Fire, The Temptations, and Anita Baker. With multiple lead vocalists, choreographed dance steps, and a powerful horn section, the Durell Coleman Soul Review will perform classic R&B, Motown and dance hits.
August 9 - The Craze - An irresistibly great show where girls scream, hipsters dance, cowboys smile and everyone has fun. The Craze's influences range from 60's rock to 80's new wave: imagine the Beatles putting together a Duran Duran tribute band.
August 16 - Ken O'Malley & the Twilight Lords - Journey to the heart and soul of Ireland with Ken O'Malley and the Twilight Lords, a band that will fill Central Park with classic American and British roots rock as well as Irish favorites.
August 23 - Queen Nation - Queen Nation is an amazing recreation of vintage Queen, with vocalist Joe Retta capturing Freddy Mercury's voice, style, and mannerisms and guitarist Mike McMannus replicating Brian May riffs. Queen Nation has been hailed by many critics as one of the best Queen re-creations in the world.
All concerts are free and begin at 7 p.m. Parking space is limited and those attending are encouraged to arrive early. Videotaping, barbecues, alcoholic beverages and smoking are not permitted at the event. Food and beverages will be available for purchase to enjoy while dancing under the stars.
